About Sarah
Sarah Tubman (Lockman), is a distinguished International Grand Prix American dressage rider renowned for her dedication to developing top-quality horses from young prospects to the FEI levels. Based at the picturesque Donato Farms in Wellington, Florida, Sarah collaborates closely with her husband, FEI 4* judge Lee Tubman, to provide exceptional training, coaching, and management for competition dressage horses.
Sarah’s equestrian journey began in her youth, where she explored various disciplines, including western pleasure, trail, barrel racing, roping, and hunter/jumper competitions. Her passion for eventing led her to compete up to the CCI3* level. At 16, she transitioned to high-performance dressage, and in 2012 started her own business marking the start of her illustrious career.
Sarah has taught many riders and horses from Training level all the way to Grand Prix. In 2016 she had over 15 horse and rider combinations qualified for CDS/USDF Championships. For many years she had a large amateur client base and the largest sales program in Southern California. A pivotal moment came in 2017 when Sarah partnered with Summit Farm to focus on building a smaller boutique style business, focused on producing horses for the top of the sport.
Shortly after this she was matched with Dutch Warmblood stallion, First Apple. The pair’s synergy led to remarkable achievements, including individual gold and team silver medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. In 2021, Sarah married Lee Tubman, and together they have established a dynamic presence in the dressage community.
Sarah and Summit Farm’s First Apple continued to excel, making their large tour Nations Cup debut at the CHIO Aachen in 2023, further solidifying their status on the international stage. Sarah has been short listed for 2022 World Equestrian Games, 2023 member of the USEF pre- Elite list, and 2023 World Cup first reserve ride. After spending two summers in Germany representing the U.S. at many top competitions, she ended 2023 winning another gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games as the anchor rider for team USA.
Sarah’s current roster of competition horses showcases her commitment to excellence. Alongside First Apple, she competes with RS Damon owned by Donato Farms at the International GP level, and Lyamora, a promising 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare competing Intermediare II, and 9-year-old Gorklintgards Smarties, owned by the GS Syndicate, and Barton VDL, owned by The Barton Group, a 9-year-old Breeding stallion. Sarah’s dedication to nurturing young talent underscores her philosophy of developing horses with patience and precision--with the goals of representing the U.S. at the top of the sport and internationally for years to come! Her vision includes representing the United States in future international competitions, such as the World Cup, World Equestrian Games, and Olympic Games, reflecting her unwavering commitment to her craft.
Beyond her competitive pursuits, Sarah is passionate about making dressage more accessible and affordable, aspiring to broaden participation in the sport. Sarah and Lee are available to facilitate overseas buying trips, and Sarah also offers for sale a limited number of select horses.
Coaching Successes
Sarah is a dedicated coach and trainer, passionate about helping the young riders she coaches achieve their riding goals. Her students consistently excel in competitions, and been highly successful in Junior, Young Rider, and U-25 divisions. Sarah is incredibly proud of all her students, and celebrates their accomplishments, which include medaling at:
